I need a digital voice recorder that records in pretty high quality for music lessons. The parents of the students want a digital copy of their kids singing. What would be some good suggestions for good digital voice recorders with high playback quality?
I’m a college student and I was also curious about the different brands of voice recorders. I really didn’t want to waste my money and purchase something that has bad quality. At first I was going to buy one of the Sony ones (just because I’ve seen so many other students use it; I thought they must be good). I did some research and read reviews from other people who have used certain voice recorders. I eventually landed on one of the Olympus voice recorders. Mine is the Olympus WS-331M. I was actually going to purchase the older model but my brother bought the better one for me (which was GREAT! =]). I really like this voice recorder. You can organize the recordings into different folders, it’s small and records really well. Well, I haven’t tried others so I can’t really compare them. The only thing I don’t like is the battery life. I can only record two class sessions (an hour and a half each) with two AAA batteries. By the third class session, it would die out in the middle of the lecture. I’m not sure if this is the issue for all voice recorders. I’ll put up a link below so you can check out more information on it.
What are some good options for digital voice recorders for recording music lessons?
What is the average per city price of music lessons (piano, voice, guitar, violin, etc)?
Does anyone know where I can get info on average private music lesson pricing nationwide?

Good Idea to take music lessons again?
It’s been too long since i’ve taken any type of music lesson. I can sing, but I could use lessons to better my voice. I’m not going to persue it, but it’s always nice to take lessons to better your self. And Piano was my favorite except I don’t remember a dang thing, but I can play one song and not all that well. I’d like to go back, but which one should i take? Good idea?
Piano will help with being able to read music which you need to do when you sing. (in a choir, etc.) I would go for piano first.
How much does a music teacher usually charge music lessons when they come to your home?
I’m bartering with a music teacher 1/2 hr lesson once a week and I massage him 1 hr twice a month but I didnt agree to that yet because I usually charge $85 for a hour So should I ask him how much he charges and if it’s a total of $60 for an hour should he have to teach me at least 45min instead of a 1/2hr once a week? Or should I just do my hour verses his hour? What would you do? Just bit the bullet or say something?
I can’t tell you current prices, but I think I paid over $60/hour 40 years ago when I was taking private lessons. If he is a real professional, I would expect it to cost far more than a massage.
My daughter wants a job for music lessons, but shes only 13. Is there anywhere she can get a job in Perth, WA?
My daughters 13 but she really wants a job to get music lessons. Is there anywhere in Perth, WA, that she can work that will pay her over the summer holidays?
Hrmm I think the legal age for a casual job is around 14 and a half… however maybe she can deliver pamphletes and newspapers locally?
Or do some house work for family and friends?
Good luck

Where can I find online music lessons?
I can’t read music to save my life. I want to be able to play the guitar and keyboard and actually WRITE these songs that I come up with in my head. I need like a beginners music lesson, if there’s any such thing free online. Does anybody have any suggestions?
Ohhhhhh! I didn’t even think of that! Thanks so much!
YouTube! They have lessons for all playing levels. Just type in the instrument you want to learn.
What do these ‘grades’ mean when it comes to instrumental music lessons?
People who are taking lessons in instrumental music (guitar, piano, violin, etc..) generally talk about how they are "grade 2" or "grade 5" or whatever. What do these grades MEAN? because I’ve never heard of them. Does anyone have a website which details them? because that would be nice… Thanks!
Well.. grades 1-3 tend to be more of the "beginner" grades; 3-5 are more of an "intermediate" level; and grade 6-8 are more advanced musicians ![]()
Grades 1-3 usually have well known tunes, especially as mostly young kids do these grades. As you get to a higher standard, the rhythms become more complex, as do the key signatures. The time sig can change, and the tunes become less familar on a first listening
Oh! And you need a decent understanding of cadences, and chords, to do well in the higher grades for the aural exam… AND you’ll need to understand how key signatures work – music theory exams can teach you how to do this
