What do you do when you go to singing lessons?

For people who have had experiences with singing lessons, what do you do? Like they tell you to sing a song right? And do they tell you whether your using your real voice or your fake voice? And do they tell you to sing with your real voice and teach you how?

I’ve been studying singing for quite a while now, here’s what actually happens. They take you through warmups, for about 25 minutes. And then you’re instructed to do some vocal exercises, which sort of built different coordinations into your muscles, so they know how to work when you sing.

These exercises involve conditioning the muscles of the vocal cords and the larynx (basically your voice box) to be coordinated in a particular way, which will then improve your overall singing capability, vocal range, and tone quality. All the exercises involve scales, which are a series of notes, which you’re supposed to sing along to. This improves pitch as well.

Yes, they say never use a fake voice – sing with the voice you speak with. You pretty much get yelled at (in a nice way) if you sing in a fake voice. Hahaha it’s funny because they try to be nice but get annoyed at the fake voice at the same time. They’re called singing lessons because the main thing you’re supposed to learn is to sing awesomely, with your real voice. Yes, they teach you this.

Hope I helped,
Good luck!

Do you have to have singing lessons to be a good singer?

Do you have to take singing lessons to be a good singer?

I’m a music major and with a teacher, they go into detail about breathing and what not that students do not know how to pick out. You really should. If you want to be a music major for SURE they will not accept you into the Dept if you don’t have one

Are 2 months of singing lessons, once a week, significant to develop a good technique?

I found a teacher who is offering 8 singing lessons every week for 2months for about $500. Is this worth the money? And is that enough time to develop the skill? i’m a total beginner and i’m willing to actually practice.

No, you may be lucky enough to just build a common vocabularly so that you understand what he/she is talking about when they ask for something.

Good technique takes years to develop. Two months is a nice start, but if you’re serious about developing your voice, get ready for the long haul.

Are there any singing lessons you can buy that can stand up to face to face vocal coaching?

Or do you think that face to face vocal coaching is the only way to get great results?

I’m talking about the CD/Video type of singing lessons, by the way.

I’m pretty bad at singing, but I really want to be a famous multi-instrumental in the next few years. I’m already starting to get a lot better at the guitar, piano, bass guitar and drums, but my voice has a lot of catching up to do.

Any answers are appreciated, thank you.

Personally no, I don’t think there’s anything you can do that will compare to face to face coaching with someone who is listening to you, correcting you and helping you with the specifics of your voice and the specifics of the way in which you are musically approaching something.

I do believe that cds/videos can help you, but no, not like someone standing in front of you.

Just my opinion :) Of course, I guess it depends on who the coach is!

Where can I get singing lessons in Arnold Missouri?

Okay, so me and my friend want to start a band, she can play the guitar and I can sing fairly well. But before we do anything I thought it would be wise to take some singing lessons to make sure I don’t embarress myself in front of her or anyone… What is a good place I can take singing lessons in Arnold or Imperial Missouri?

Hi,

I am not from your hometown but I will give you the same advice I give others. This is the best way to find a voice teacher: Go to a college theatre performance, or a vocal concert. Listen very carefully to all the singer…which ever performer you like the best (in other words you want the same vocal technique as them), compliment them after the show is over and ask them who they study with. Get the name of that teacher and give them a call. The best way to find a voice teacher is to listen to their students. I hope this helps.
