I’m a teen, and I’ve been singing for about two years now. I think I am definitely improving, I’ve been told by a lot of people that I’m good and I practice daily. I start my first piano lesson this Tuesday, I am trying to also focus on learning an instrument. I’ve never had voice lessons, and my parents can’t afford to pay for singing lessons right now. Is there anything I can do to improve my singing without lessons, like to make myself sound better?
How about this, instead of paying for a private vocal coach, go online and look for some singing DVD packages etc. Sure they will not be as good as a real-life vocal coach, but that might be an affordable start?
hope that helped! ![]()

You can try to do aerobics, Yoga, and daily breathing exercises.Don’t forget to drink plenty of water while you train.

Hi Mia,
It sure sounds like you have your hands full there and I know what you mean, learning to sing with private singing lessons is not cheap but fortunately there are quite a few ways to improve your singing without private lessons. There have already been some good suggestions but here are a few more.
Start by working through this free 5 day singing mini course:
Day 1: "Introduction and Vocal Warmups"

Day 2: "Vocal Tone"
http://www.starsinginglessons.com/minicourse/2technique.php
Day 3: "Becoming Pitch Perfect"

Day 4: "Breathing and Posture"

Day 5: "Creating a Connected Voice"

Also check out the singing videos on eHow.com website. They have some very high quality videos. Just to a search for "learn to sing" on their site.
Lastly as someone else has already mentioned, there are some excellent teach yourself singing courses that are very effective and much more affordable than private singing lessons. You can get reviews of the best ones here:

I hope you find this helpful.
