What can my 8 year old daughter buy her violin teacher?

by admin on September 24, 2009

My daughter’s violin teacher is 18 and going off to University in september so is finishing teaching next week. We would like to get her a thank you gift which she can take with her, and maybe display in her room and remind her of the fun she had teaching her first pupil. I don’t have any photos of her or her with my daughter which may of been quite nice to give her. I could give her one of my daughter playing her violin but would still like to buy a gift to go with it, any ideas?

Oh how thoughtful of you! I have been playing violin for most of my life. The suggestion of your daughter playing a peice she taught her and making a cd is a great idea!!! You can easily do this with just a simple computer microphone and cd burning software. Try a hallmark store – they often have trinkets etc with music notes or violin type things on them though they may be a bit expensive. Maybe even a photo of your daughter with her violin in a nice inexpensive frame would be very cool. You could even get some bow Rosin and have your daughter sign it or decorate the box its cased in. A homemade card / photo sounds like something i’d love to receive from a student though as it’s more personal :)

You could get a photo frame and put the picture in. Maybe the photo frame could say best teacher if you can find one. If not, maybe a little figurine that says best teacher or a mug etc.
Hope this helps

Or a copy of some music played by your daughter that the teacher has taught her??

Maybe to go along with the photo you could make a CD of your daughter playing some songs her violin teacher taught her? Maybe you could also get her a gift certificate to a bookstore or something similarly practical for a student just entering university.

A novelty door wedge. My daughter received one in the shape of a stilletto shoe when she went off to Uni. It is great for making new friends if she is going to be in Halls. She can have the door open and be able to see people passing her room and they will call in to say hello.

You might find a canvas tote bag that has plastic photo pockets on the outside.
